Cookie Policy

A small amount of browser storage

This Cookie Policy explains the small amount of browser storage and temporary connection technology used to remember practical choices, operate live matching, and keep StrangersChat reliable without building an advertising profile from private conversations.

01

What technology is used

The current website primarily uses localStorage, a browser feature that saves key-value settings on your device, rather than relying on traditional advertising cookies. It also uses temporary real-time connection identifiers and standard web request information so the server can distinguish active page sessions, deliver messages, update presence, and reconnect when a network briefly drops. Hosting, security, or network infrastructure may process technical headers or apply essential protective mechanisms outside the application code. These technologies are used for operation and safety; they are not presented as a public identity or permanent chat history.

02

Preferences saved on your device

The browser can remember two practical groups of settings: your selected website interface language and the profile choices used for matching. Matching settings may include an optional nickname, gender selection, preferred matches, chat language, interests, and confirmations that you are an adult and accept the Community Guidelines. Saving these values makes a return visit quicker and does not create a public account. The data normally remains inside the browser profile that stored it, so another person using the same unlocked profile may see or reuse those choices. Avoid saving sensitive information in a nickname or interest field.

03

Essential live-session technology

A live random-chat service needs short-lived technical state while a page session is open. Anonymous authentication data, connection identifiers, chat references, delivery identifiers, timestamps, visibility status, and reconnection signals may be held in browser storage, service memory, or the production database to pair users, show presence, order messages, reduce duplicate delivery, apply limits, and recover a recent active chat. This state differs from a permanent account or inbox. Closing, refreshing, clearing storage, or losing authentication can end or replace the session even though brief backgrounding is designed not to close the match.

04

Advertising and analytics

The current application is not designed to set behavioral advertising cookies or use private chat text to build a cross-site advertising profile. It also does not intentionally load a third-party analytics suite in the current client code. If analytics, advertising, embedded media, or another non-essential technology is introduced later, this policy and any consent controls should be updated before or when that change applies. External websites opened from a link sent by another user have their own cookies and privacy practices; StrangersChat does not control what those separate sites store after you leave this domain.

05

How to clear or block storage

You can remove saved website data through the privacy or site-settings area of your browser. Clearing data for StrangersChat resets the saved interface language and matching preferences, so the setup screen will return to default choices on a later visit. Private-browsing modes may limit how long localStorage remains available, and strict browser settings or extensions can block storage or real-time connection features. The site may still open when some storage is unavailable, but remembered settings, reconnect behavior, or other convenience features may work differently. Browser help documentation explains the exact controls for your device and version.

Updates to this policy

Storage practices can change when the service adds features, changes infrastructure, improves security, or responds to legal requirements. The updated date identifies the current version of this policy. Review it periodically if browser storage is important to you, especially after a visible feature change. A future notice may distinguish strictly necessary technology from optional categories and provide additional controls where required. Continuing to use the website after an update means the current storage practices will apply to that use; if you disagree, clear the site data and stop using the service.
