Community Guidelines

Be curious. Be respectful. Be safe.

These Community Guidelines apply to every StrangersChat conversation. They set the minimum standard for respectful adult interaction and explain behavior that may lead to reports, restrictions, removal, or referral to appropriate authorities.

01

Respect people

Treat the person behind the screen as a human being, even when you disagree or do not share interests. Harassment, bullying, humiliation, threats, stalking, intimidation, repeated unwanted contact, and encouragement of violence are not allowed. Do not attack people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or another protected characteristic. A joke is not an excuse when its purpose or effect is to degrade someone. If a person asks to change the subject or stop a line of questioning, respect that boundary or leave the conversation.

02

Keep sexual content out

StrangersChat is currently a text-only service for adults, but adult access does not make unsolicited sexual behavior acceptable. Do not send explicit sexual descriptions, pressure someone into sexual conversation, request intimate photographs, offer paid sexual material, or use coercion, blackmail, or deception to obtain private content. Any sexualization, grooming, exploitation, or solicitation involving a person under eighteen is strictly prohibited. If someone claims to be underage or introduces sexual content involving a minor, end the chat and report immediately instead of continuing, testing the claim, or sharing the content with others.

03

No scams or harmful activity

Do not use the service to request money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, credentials, financial access, or participation in suspicious transactions. Impersonation, romance scams, fake emergencies, fraudulent investments, phishing, malware distribution, account theft, and deceptive recruitment are prohibited. You may not promote or coordinate violence, trafficking, exploitation, illegal sales, hacking, or other harmful activity. Educational discussion of a difficult topic is different from instructions intended to facilitate harm; context and behavior matter. Attempts to move users elsewhere for the purpose of evading safety controls are also a violation.

04

Protect privacy and consent

Do not pressure people to reveal their full name, exact location, phone number, workplace, school, passwords, financial information, private images, or social accounts. Never publish, trade, threaten to expose, or use another person’s personal information without permission. Recording, copying, or sharing a conversation can create risk even when the website itself does not provide a public history, so obtain consent before republishing someone’s words. Do not pretend that anonymity gives permission to investigate, track, identify, or contact a person across platforms after they have left the chat.

05

Do not spam or disrupt the service

Automated messages, repetitive advertising, bulk promotion, link flooding, coordinated disruption, scraping, unauthorized bots, and attempts to overload or reverse engineer the service are prohibited. Do not create misleading interest tags, repeatedly cycle through users to harass them, manipulate matching, evade rate limits, or interfere with another person’s ability to chat. Commercial promotion should not be disguised as a personal conversation. Security research must not expose user data or degrade the live service; concerns should be reported privately through an appropriate contact channel when one is available.

06

Reporting and enforcement

Users can leave any conversation and report serious behavior. Reports may include the selected reason, optional details, participant aliases, and limited recent conversation context needed to understand the incident. We may review available information, restrict access, preserve relevant records, improve abuse controls, or contact appropriate authorities when reasonably necessary for safety or legal compliance. Enforcement decisions can consider severity, context, repetition, and risk, and not every action will be visible to the reporting user. False or retaliatory reports are themselves misuse. These guidelines may evolve as the service and its risks change.
